Our Why
The Ray of Hope Foundation is changing lives.
Our mission
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. ~ Romans 5:3-4
The Ray of Hope Foundation is a 501©3 non-profit organization created in 2020 to honor the life of Raymond Wene.
Our mission is to raise awareness, provide medical personnel educational scholarships, and offer support to brain tumor and brain cancer patients and their families.
Our Vision

Inspired by Raymond Wene’s memory, we dream of a world free from the darkness of brain tumors. Our mission is to offer strong, reliable support to patients and families facing this difficult disease.
Guided by compassion, we work to build a community where every person with a brain tumor can find comfort, strength, and hope. Together, we are creating a future where the journey through brain cancer is met with resources, resilience, and, ultimately, victory.
Our Story
Raymond Wene is the heart and inspiration behind The Ray of Hope Foundation. Ray’s journey with brain cancer began in June 2017. What started as an ordinary day quickly became our worst nightmare—a diagnosis of a brain tumor. Ray underwent his first craniotomy, and pathology confirmed it was a Grade IV Glioblastoma (GBM), a rare and aggressive brain cancer.
Ray received the standard treatment, which included six weeks of radiation combined with chemotherapy, followed by 12 months of maintenance chemotherapy. During his 29-month battle, Ray faced numerous challenges, including a second craniotomy, surgery for a brain bleed, and a biopsy. Yet, despite these trials, Ray never lost sight of the precious time he had. His faith remained unshakable, and he was passionate about sharing his journey with others. Ray often said, “If my testimony during this storm brings one person closer to God, it is worth it.” His warmth and kindness touched everyone around him.
On November 20, 2019, Ray was freed from his struggle with brain cancer when he was called home by the Lord. He deeply wished to raise awareness for this brutal disease and support others on the same path. The Ray of Hope Foundation was founded to honor his legacy of love and compassion. Through our fundraising efforts, we support patients, caregivers, and families affected by brain cancer. We are also committed to providing continuing education opportunities for neurology nurses.
